New Caledonia has lifted the suspension of international flights, in place since 1 April 2020. The borders were to remain closed until 31 December 2021, but the lifting of the measure has been brought forward by one month. New Caledonia is no longer Covid free. The closure was therefore no longer meaningful.
Vaccination required for entry
However, access to the territory is reserved for fully vaccinated passengers. An antigenic or PCR test less than 72 hours old is also required on departure. They must also isolate themselves for seven days at home or in a hotel upon arrival, and then undergo screening. Only the local airline, Air Calédonie Internationale (ACI), serves the archipelago. During the suspension, it operated on the orders of the Caledonian government.
While waiting for Singapore…
ACI has announced that until 26 March it will offer four weekly rotations to Tokyo and three to six weekly rotations in the opposite direction. Japan, which has just closed its borders because of the Omicron variant, is a stopover on the way to Paris. Passengers are only in transit. A Noumea-Papeete rotation will also be provided. The company’s management has also announced that it is considering serving Singapore in the future.
