Benoit Magimel was awarded the César for best actor for the film Pacification-Tourments sur les Iles on Friday 24 February in Paris. The film was shot in Polynesia in August 2021, with local actors and technical teams. This feature film by Albert Serra is a political thriller set on the island of Tahiti. Benoît Magimel plays the role of a high commissioner of the archipelago who investigates a possible resumption of nuclear testing. Last year, the film was in competition at the famous Cannes Film Festival. During the ceremony, Benoit Magimel thanked his Polynesian compatriots. This trophy is a great publicity for Polynesia.
