The pro-independence party, Union calédonienne, spoke to its activists about the recent visit by the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron.
The UC feels that Emmanuel Macron did not listen to it. It feels that the representatives of the State are not responding to its requests. It has repeated that it expects the State to lead New Caledonia to full sovereignty, i.e. independence. UC leaders accuse the President of having spent his time dividing New Caledonians. For the oldest party in New Caledonia, it is out of the question to completely reopen the electorate and thus give the right to vote in local elections to French citizens in mainland France.
