A 63-year-old woman who had recently been admitted to the Covid-19 patient unit at the Taaone Hospital in Pirae, Tahiti, died this Tuesday (Monday in French Polynesia).
She was in hospital since September, 24 for severe respiratory failure, according to a Presidency statement sent to the media this afternoon.
Intensive care
Since July, 15, 1,666 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in French Polynesia. 1,369 left isolation and 290 cases are being monitored.
25 people are still at the Taaone Hospital, including 11 on intensive care.
Aborted cruise
The active cases are mainly located in the urban municipalities of Tahiti. 27 cases are located in Moorea, 3 in Bora Bora, 2 in Raiatea, 1 in Huahine and 1 in Rangiroa.
On September, 28, the Aranui 5 was forced to abort its cruise to Marquesas Islands and forced to return to its embarkation port in Papeete after seven crew members were found to be Covid-19 positive.
