New Caledonia is expecting its first cyclone of the season. For the moment, it is only a strong tropical depression called Ruby. It should become a cyclone in the evening of 13 December. It should arrive during the night from the north. It could skirt the east coast during the day on Tuesday. The maximum cyclonic alert (n°2) will be triggered on Monday 13 December at 8pm in the North Province and at 11pm in the South Province and the Loyalty Islands. Residents must therefore remain in their homes. This will not make the task of Emmanuel Macron’s minister, Sébastien Lecornu, any easier. He came to discuss with New Caledonian elected representatives after the referendum on Sunday 12 December.
