After the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of the Economy and Finance last week, it’s the turn of the Minister of the Armed Forces to come to New Caledonia. Sébastien Lecornu is expected on Sunday December 3. He will be attending the meeting of South Pacific defense ministers. The former French Minister for Overseas Territories (who therefore knows Caledonia well), is taking part in the South Pacific defense ministers’ meeting. The South Pacific defense ministers’ meeting runs until Wednesday, December 6, in Nouméa. Here’s an overview of the program.At the end of the day on Monday, the French Minister will meet Richard Marles, Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence. The meeting of South Pacific defense ministers kicks off the following day at the Pacific Community headquarters on Anse-Vata. Sébastien Lecornu is also scheduled to meet with :
Pio Tikoduadua, Fiji’s Minister of Defense ;
Siaso Sovaleni, Tongan Prime Minister and Minister of Defense;
Win Bakri Daki, Minister of Defense of Papua New Guinea ;
and Judith Collins, New Zealand Minister of Defense.
