Two Caledonian players from Wallis and Futuna have won the Six Nations tournament with the French rugby team.
After twelve years of hardship, the French team has brilliantly won the Six Nations rugby tournament. The Pacific region had a lot to do with this victory. One of the leaders of this team is the Caledonian Peato Mauvaka. He is a hooker. He made himself famous on 20 November 2021 by scoring two tries against the Alls Blaks. He did a remarkable lap of honour with the French flag at arm’s length. He was even voted man of the match. He was part of the team that just won this famous grand slam. Although he grew up in New Caledonia, Peato Mauvaka, who plays in Toulouse, in mainland France, is originally from Wallis. Another Caledonian was on the pitch for the last match of the tournament against England, the giant Caledonian Romain Taofifenua. He plays in the second row. He is two metres tall and weighs 133 kilos. He is the son of Willy Taofifenua, the living legend of Caledonian rugby.
