After two years without foreign liners, the port of Papeete welcomed the Viking Orion on Monday 17 January 2022. Inside, cruise passengers are subject to a very strict sanitary protocol to contain the spread of Covid. Polynesia welcomed 45,000 cruise passengers in 2009 compared to 10,333 in 2021. 1,100 stopovers are planned for 2022.
